MSU Tier 2 Administration

MSU's computing resources make up approximately half of AGLT2. These machines are jointly administrated by MSU and UM. This page will briefly describe the scope of the MSU admin's duties.

Overview

The MSU admin has the following duties:

• Ensure the hardware is running smoothly - Monitoring
• Ensure services are running smoothly - Monitoring
• Perform basic maintenance of hardware - Vendor-specific pages are linked here
• Install new hardware - HardwareDeployment
• Maintain server configuration - ConfigurationManagement
• Maintain provisioning builds - ROCKS and Cobbler

There are the following types of aglt2-specific servers that run:

• Compute nodes
• dCache file servers - Services primarily maintained by Shawn
• dCache doors - Services primarily maintained by Shawn
• Rocks frontend - Builds compute nodes, currently msurx6
